Well I thought I would start a journal on my challenge of starting and finishing a Christmas Gift (yes this year!) for my brother-in-law. As my sister said, this would really be a surprise because he doesn't think I am going to paint it.

Couple, yes 2, years ago he wanted me to paint on an old saw blade that was his fathers. He primed it and this year brought it to my home. This saw is round and approximately 18 inches wide.

You have to understand that at the time he asked me to paint on it. I asked him what he wanted. "He didn't care", just paint anything! Well I knew painting a still life with flowers, etc would not fit his man cave. So my sister said his man cave or function center as it is known could be a start. He loves his 4 wheeler and also loves to grill. He even built his own grill. So I decided those were the 3 main elements of the painting. He is also a Dallas Cowboy fan and an Arkansas Razorback fan. So somehow and somewhere those two elements will be incorporated.

I have attached a couple of photos to show the beginning of this painting exercise. Feel free to comment or make suggestions.

Merry Christmas to you to Doris. Yes it is finished. Now on to the next project. My cousin wants a print of my 3 bears. So I am thinking giclee and then add some painting touches to it.  I thought I was in real trouble. I had lost my camera disc that had the last stages of my bears and urn!! But as it would be it was right in front of me after I had looked through everything and then some 2-3 times. That is the project I must work on now. I would dearly love to have everything done before the New Year. So looks like I will be burning some more midnight oil. It never ends. But I am loving it.

I think he liked it. The yellow is a little bright. But if you have it inside, it doesn't show as much. Outside it can be bright. I told him if he needs me to tone it down I could. But he seems to like the look (old as he says). I even surprised him! so that was nice. So here it is again. and yes it went on the 4 wheeler up to their house!

Sorry everyone. I think I have called it finished. I just need to get a decent photo. The flash is burning the picture. Plus had something to fix. So I am letting it dry. Promise I will upload something soon.

I added the color. I had to go get a light. The area where I am painting does not have bright light. So I finally went and got my pole light that has a daylight bulb. At first it was ugh, I had added way too much. But just took a blue shop towel and wiped most of it off. Much better now!  I am now patiently waiting for it to dry. Hopefully before I go to bed I can take a picture. If not you will get one early in the am, as it is a work day for me. I will also seal it too.
